Chemical Peel: Facial Skin Peel Treatments
What Exactly is a Chemical Peel?
A skin peel treatment, also known as a chemical peel, is a cosmetic procedure performed by our qualified skincare professionals. In this treatment, a chemical solution is applied to the skin, which causes the outer layer of the skin to exfoliate and peel off, revealing smoother, younger-looking skin underneath. A chemical peel rejuvenates the skin overall, giving it a boost of youthful radiance while addressing various skin concerns.

Types of Skin Peel Treatments at EI Styling
Using a range of medical-grade solutions from Mesoestetic and Medik8, we offer several types of chemical peel skin treatments at our Perth salon:
Superficial or light chemical peels: These peels exfoliate only the outermost layer of the skin (epidermis) with mild acids, such as alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs). Minor skin issues such as rough texture, fine lines, mild discoloration, and acne can be treated with them. There is usually little recovery time.
Medium chemical peel: These peels target the outer and middle layers of the skin (epidermis and upper dermis). For more pronounced wrinkles, acne scars, and moderate skin discolorations, stronger acids are used, such as glycolic acid or trichloroacetic acid (TCA).
Deep chemical peel: Deep peels use stronger chemicals, such as phenol, to penetrate deep into the dermis and treat severe wrinkles, scars, and discolorations. Recovery may take several weeks, and the skin may be red for some time.
The Multitude of Facial Peel Benefits
The benefits of chemical face peels include:• An improvement in the texture and tone of the skin
- Wrinkles and fine lines are reduced
- Blemishes and acne scars are reduced
- A reduction in age spots and an evening out of skin pigmentation
- Firmer skin due to increased collagen production
- Reduced acne breakouts and unclogging of pores
- Rejuvenation of the skin overall
What are the Risks of a Chemical Peel?
Having a consultation with one of our trained skin therapists who can assess your skin type, concerns, and medical history is essential before considering a skin peel treatment. Chemical peels are not suitable for everyone, especially those who are pregnant or with certain skin conditions or sensitivities.
Redness, scabbing, and swelling are common side effects that occur after a chemical peel. It’s important to follow pre- and post-treatment care instructions, including using gentle skincare products, avoiding excessive sun exposure, and wearing sunscreen.
How Long Until You See the Results of a Skin Peel?
Skin peels are a treatment where you’ll see a noticeable improvement to your skin. Results for light and medium peels, while more subtle than a deep peel, are usually visible in less than 7-14 days. For deep peels, you will see a more pronounced improvement in the treated areas within about 2 weeks. For best results we recommend 6 treatments spaced 4 weeks apart.
